Overview of HDSN
Established in 2007, Health and Development Society Nepal (HDSN) is a non-profit, non governmental Social Development Organization. Registered under the Society Registration Act 1977 with the Chief District Officer’s Office, Lalitpur and affiliated with Social Welfare Council..
HDSN is governed by the General Council (GC) that elects an Executive Committee for two years. The Executive Committee meets regularly to monitor advice and make overall decisions regarding HDSN programmes. It also provides a mandate to execute strategies and monitor the annual plan of the organization.
Our Focus
In accordance with the core motto “ensuring health rights of communities through oral health”, HDSN is committed to working in Nepal with focus on preventive and promotive activities on oral health while expanding and extending the services.
Chhatiwan Village Development Committee of Makawanpur district has been selected as a pilot working area based on the population, geographical, physical, ethnicity and Human Developmental Indicators(1).
HDSN intends to pursue its activities even beyond the district headquarters in the most remote parts of the country. If the resources are found and the situation calls for its services, HDSN intentds to expand its services to the most remote districts which are also deemed as the neediest parts of the country.
HDSN aims to work for the inclusion of Women and Children and Poorest of the Poor with the following aims.
For Inclusion of women and children
- Ensure gender equity with a special focus on women in the programmes at all levels
- Use gender disaggregated indicators for programme planning, monitoring and evaluation
- Promote participation and decision making roles of girls, women and deprived groups
- Enhance the access to and control over opportunities to women and deprived groups.
- Orient and promote sensitivity of gender equity in people’s personal lives and work
- Monitor the organisation policies, procedures and practices from a gender perspective
- Consider gender equity issue in the process and conditions of partnership
- Enable communities to recognize the role of women in the society.
- Actively promote and provide space for women in a leadership position within the organisation
Work for Poorest of the poor
Help to alleviate poverty and assist the poorest of the poor to uplift their quality of life through various programmes irrespective of caste, ethnicity and origin.
