Health and Development Society Nepal (HDSN) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to promoting social development, registered under the Society Registration Act 1977 with the Chief District Officer’s Office, Lalitpur, Nepal. Our mission is to enhance the health and well-being of vulnerable populations, especially children and young adults, through cutting-edge research and community-driven initiatives. HDSN, in collaboration with Charles Sturt University Australia, is currently conducting research studies in mental health problems faced by children and young adults across Nepal.
We are seeking a passionate and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Research Officer. This role offers an exciting opportunity to build a portfolio in mental health research and drive positive change in mental and physical health across the country.
Key Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the planning and execution of quantitative studies focused on mental health, including study design, data collection strategies, and analysis.
• Assist in the development and testing of data collection instruments to ensure reliability and relevance to research objectives.
• Lead community engagement activities to promote participation and awareness.
• Support logistical arrangements for field researchers, including the organization of workshops, training sessions, and meetings.
• Conduct regular field visits to monitor data collection and ensure adherence to research protocols.
• Oversee the data collection process, ensuring the integrity and quality of the data collected.
• Analyse data and contribute to the preparation of research manuscripts.
• Provide administrative support, including the management of financial reporting and transactions related to fieldwork and research activities.
Eligibility and Qualifications:
• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in public health, medicine, nursing, or epidemiology, with a strong emphasis on quantitative disciplines like epidemiology and biostatistics.
• Proficiency in quantitative research methods, including study design, data analysis, and scientific writing, with a demonstrated commitment to further developing these skills.
• Experience with statistical software, such as Stata, R, or similar programs.
• Experience with scientific publications in relevant fields, such as epidemiology and public health.
• Basic understanding of mental health research.
• Experience in conducting community-based studies, particularly in rural and remote areas, is preferred.
